Step-by-Step JMI CUET UG 2026 Admission Process
Step 1 — Apply on admission.jmi.ac.in
JMI does not auto-pick candidates from the NTA pool. You must separately register and fill the JMI UG application form on admission.jmi.ac.in. For 2026, the form was open 20 February to 10 April 2026, with a correction window from 11 – 13 April. Pay the JMI application fee online (non-refundable) for every course you apply to.
Step 2 — Appear in CUET UG 2026
While the JMI form is for the JMI admission process, your academic score for CUET-mode courses comes from CUET UG 2026. Make sure your CUET subject list maps to the JMI course you want. For example: BA (Hons) Arabic needs Arabic (or another listed language) in CUET; B.Sc. Biotechnology needs Biology + a compatible second domain. If you are still firming up your CUET strategy, our CUET UG 2026 Final Week Strategy can help.
Step 3 — Await CUET UG 2026 Result & JMI Merit List
NTA releases CUET UG 2026 scorecards on cuet.nta.nic.in (expected end-June or early-July). JMI then publishes a programme-wise CUET merit list on admission.jmi.ac.in. The merit list is computed using the equi-percentile average of the CUET subjects required for that programme.
Step 4 — Counselling, Document Verification & Fee Payment
JMI runs round-wise online counselling. Shortlisted candidates upload required documents, get verification done, and pay the provisional admission fee. Subsequent rounds (mop-up, spot) fill vacant seats from the waitlist.
Step 5 — Final Admission & Reporting
You report at the relevant JMI department with all originals. Final admission is granted only after successful document verification.
Eligibility — Programme Clusters
Programme-specific eligibility is notified in the JMI 2026 Prospectus. Indicative norms:
- BA (Hons) Languages — Class 12 in any stream with min 50% (45% for reserved categories) + CUET Language Test.
- BA (Hons) Social Sciences — Class 12 with min 50% + CUET domain in the relevant social science.
- B.Sc. Biotechnology / Physics — Class 12 with PCB / PCM, min 50% + relevant CUET domains.
- BVoc tracks — Class 12 PCM / PCB (depending on track) + CUET General Test or domain.
Documents to Keep Ready
- CUET UG 2026 Scorecard
- Class 10 Marksheet & Certificate
- Class 12 Marksheet
- Aadhaar / valid government ID
- Passport-size photograph + signature scan
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD) — in central format, current FY where applicable
- Minority certificate (if claiming Muslim minority quota)
- JMI application fee receipt
- Migration certificate (after final allotment)
JMI Muslim Minority Reservation — What’s Different
JMI has a 50% reservation for Muslim community candidates, and within this, a sub-quota for Muslim women and Muslim OBC. This is layered on top of Central Government reservation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD. For applicants planning to claim the minority quota, valid community proofs and the JMI-prescribed declaration must be submitted at the application stage itself — it cannot be added later.
How JMI’s Merit Computation Works
JMI builds a programme-specific merit list using the CUET equi-percentile score of the subjects required for that programme. For courses needing (Language + 1 Domain), the average of those two percentiles is used. For BA (Hons) Social Sciences (Language + 2 Domains), the average of those three is used. Reservation is then applied within each category.

Common JMI CUET UG 2026 Mistakes
- Missing the JMI application window. JMI form closes weeks before the CUET result. If you miss the JMI window, no CUET score is enough to secure admission.
- Wrong CUET subject mapping. Applying for BA (Hons) Sanskrit while taking only English in CUET means automatic disqualification.
- Missing the minority-quota declaration. If you intend to apply under the Muslim minority quota, submit proofs at form-fill stage.
- Outdated OBC-NCL certificate. Must be in current FY format.
- Not paying separate fee per course. JMI charges an application fee for each course / category combination you apply to.
