Step-by-Step: Filling the CUET 2027 Form

Step 1 — Registration

Visit cuet.nta.nic.in → click “New Registration” → enter name, date of birth, mobile, email. You receive an Application Number — write it down. This is your login ID forever.

Step 2 — Personal Details

Fill: parents’ names, gender, category, nationality, ID proof number, address (permanent + correspondence). Be precise on category — wrong category leads to disqualification.

Step 3 — Academic Details

Class 10 details (board, year of passing, marks/CGPA). Class 12 details (board, year of passing or appearing). For 2027 exam, candidates appearing in 12th 2027 are eligible.

Step 4 — Choose Subjects (Most Critical Step)

You can pick up to 6 subjects (recommended: 4–5). Subjects fall in three buckets:

  • Section IA — 13 Indian languages (Hindi, English, Bengali, Tamil, etc.)
  • Section IB — 20 foreign/other languages (French, Spanish, Sanskrit, etc.)
  • Section II — 27 domain subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, History, Pol. Science, Economics, Accountancy, Business Studies, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Section III — General Test (mandatory if any participating university requires it)

Strategy: Pick subjects that match the courses + universities you target. Cross-check each university’s CUET subject mapping before committing.

Step 5 — Choose Exam Centres

Select 4 cities in order of preference. Allotment is based on availability — the 4th choice is sometimes given. Pick cities where you can reach by train/road in 6 hours, not just metros.

Step 6 — Upload Photo & Signature

Use the NTA size-specification image checker before upload. ~30% of corrections happen here — wrong size or selfie photo gets rejected.

Step 7 — Pay Fee

UPI is fastest. Save the receipt PDF. If payment fails but money is debited, do not retry within 24 hours — the system reconciles automatically.

Step 8 — Final Submit

Print the confirmation page. Save the application PDF. Note: once submitted, only the correction window allows changes — and only certain fields (not subjects, not centre).

Top 10 Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Wrong category claimed → disqualification
  2. Photograph older than 6 months → rejection at exam centre
  3. Mismatched name (vs Class 12 board record) → result hold
  4. Subject mismatch with target university → admission denial
  5. Centre selection in unfamiliar city → exam-day stress
  6. Wrong board name (CBSE vs Bihar Board entered together)
  7. Email/mobile of parent — you miss OTPs
  8. Paying with friend’s debit card → reconciliation issues
  9. Not saving the confirmation PDF
  10. Skipping the correction window — final fix opportunity
