Deleted Topics for 2026

NTA has not officially deleted any major Home Science topics from the CUET 2026 syllabus. The full NCERT Class 12 “Human Ecology and Family Sciences” textbook remains the prescribed syllabus. However, highly practical/lab-based topics (like actual garment construction or cooking practicals) are not tested in the MCQ format — only the theoretical concepts are examined.

Important: Only the Class 12 NCERT syllabus is tested. Class 11 Home Science topics are not part of CUET. This significantly reduces your preparation scope.

How to Score 200+ in CUET Home Science

Scoring 200+ (80%+) in CUET Home Science is highly achievable because the subject is practical and relatable. Here is a step-by-step strategy:

Step 1: Complete NCERT Reading (Week 1–2)

  • Read the entire “Human Ecology and Family Sciences” textbook (Part I & Part II)
  • Highlight key definitions, nutritional values, and developmental milestones
  • Pay special attention to tables (nutrient charts, RDA values, fibre properties) — CUET directly tests factual recall
  • Create summary notes for each unit (1–2 pages per unit)

Step 2: Focus on High-Weightage Units (Week 2–3)

  • Deep-dive into Nutrition & Dietetics — memorise nutrient sources, deficiency diseases, and therapeutic diet plans
  • Master Human Development stages — know each developmental milestone from infancy to old age
  • Revise the Consumer Protection Act 2019 thoroughly — a guaranteed 2–3 questions every year

Step 3: Previous Year Papers (Week 3–4)

  • Solve CUET Home Science PYQs from 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025
  • Identify repeating topics: nutrient deficiencies, family life cycle stages, textile fibres
  • Time yourself: aim for 50 MCQs in 50 minutes (10-minute buffer for review)

Step 4: Mock Tests (Week 4 onwards)

  • Take at least 10 full-length Home Science mock tests before the exam
  • Use the CUET Gurukul CBT Simulator to practise in the real NTA interface
  • After each mock, review wrong answers and map them back to specific NCERT paragraphs
  • Target: 42+ correct out of 50 consistently in mocks

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Ignoring Nutrition tables: Students read the theory but skip the RDA charts, nutrient source tables, and deficiency disease lists. These are directly tested as MCQs.
  2. Mixing up developmental theories: Piaget, Erikson, and Vygotsky each have distinct stage models. Confusing them is a common error — create a comparison chart.
  3. Neglecting Consumer Protection Act: Many students consider this “boring” and skip it. It contributes 2–3 guaranteed questions every year.
  4. Not practising MCQs under time pressure: 50 questions in 60 minutes = 72 seconds per question. Practice speed alongside accuracy.
  5. Using coaching notes instead of NCERT: CUET questions are NCERT-verbatim. Third-party notes often miss specific details that NTA tests.
