GOVERNMENT CREATED MINISTRY OF COOPERATION
- The government has created a Ministry of Cooperation to boost the Indian cooperative movement and give a fillip to the indigenous enterprises.
- India’s first minister of cooperation will also be sworn in once the Union Cabinet reshuffle takes place and the new ministers take the oath of office at the Durbar Hall in President House.
- The new ministry of Cooperation will work to realise the vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” and will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework to boost the cooperative movement in the country.
- The development will aid the deeping of the cooperatives as true people-based movements with benefits going down to the grassroots.
- The ministry will be mandated to streamline the processes for the ease of doing business for cooperatives and ultimately aim to broaden and strengthen the multi-state cooperatives.

HAITI PRESIDENT, JOVENEL MOISE ASSASSINATED
- Haiti President, Jovenel Moise was assassinated and his wife wounded in an attack at their home, the interim prime minister announced an act that risks further destabilizing the Caribbean nation beset by gang violence and political volatility.
- The president faced steep opposition from swathes of the population that deemed his mandate illegitimate, and he churned through a series of seven prime ministers in four years.
- Most recently, Joseph was supposed to be replaced this week after only three months in the post.
- Moise, a former entrepreneur who set up a string of businesses in the north of the country, where he hails from, burst onto the political stage in 2017 with a message of re-building the impoverished nation.
- He campaigned on populist pledges, as all candidates in Haiti do, but he kept up the rhetoric even after he was elected in February 2017.

TIGER CORRIDOR CONNECTING THREE TIGER RESERVE
- Rajasthan government has deliberate to improve a tiger corridor connecting Ranthambore tiger reserve, Ramgarh Vishdhari tiger reserve and Mukundra tiger reserve.
- The Centre authorities gave their nod for the advent of the Ramgarh Vishdhari sanctuary. This sanctuary will link Ranthambore Tiger Reserve on the Northeast side and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on the southern side.
- The proposed web page for the sanctuary is in the Bundi District, Rajasthan. It will connect Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota district and Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Sawai Madhopur district.
- Proposed Tiger Corridor: A tiger corridor will be developed by using relocating 8 villages. This will be a functional corridor to deal with the problem of overpopulation of tigers which the Ranthambore tiger reserve is dealing with currently.
- Ranthambore Tiger Reserve has above 65 tigers currently. On the other hand, the Mukundra reserve is left with simply one Tiger. Thus, this tiger hall was proposed to stabilize the population distribution.
- About Ranthambore Tiger Reserve: This reserve is positioned at the junction of the Aravali and Vindhya hill ranges. It comprises Ranthambore National Park, Sawai Mansingh sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuaries.
- Vegetation of the reserve includes grasslands on plateaus while dense forests alongside seasonal streams. Typically, the tropical dry deciduous woodland is located here.
- Common tree species is ‘dhak’ (Butea monsoperma), which is successful in withstanding lengthy intervals of drought.
- This tree is called as ‘Flame of forest’. It is one of many flowering plant life including colorings to dry summertime in the reserve. It is wealthy in flora and fauna with tigers at the apex of the meals chain. It is also home to leopards.
- This reserve was once established in 2013. It is placed between two parallel mountains, Mukundra and Gagrola. It runs for a length of about 80 km.

BENEFICIARY OF TELE-LAW PROGRAMME
- Tele-Law programme reached the 9 lakh beneficiaries.
- To address cases at the pre-litigation stage, the Ministry of Law and Justice launched the Tele-Law programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in 2017.
- It is a service that connects lawyers with litigants in need of legal advice via video conferencing and telephone services. This service seeks to assist those in need, particularly the marginalised and disadvantaged.
- Under this program, the video conferencing smart technology and telephone/instant call facilities provided in the vast network of Panchayat-level common service centers are used to connect poor, oppressed, disadvantaged, and untouched groups and communities with group lawyers to seek timely and Valuable legal advice

INDIA’S FIRST UPI BASED CASHLESS PARKING
- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched India’s first FASTag or Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-based parking facility to reduce the time for entry and payment.
- The facility was launched at the Kashmere Gate metro station. As part of the Multi-Model Integration (MMI) initiative, dedicated Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) lanes for autos, taxis and r-Rickshaws were also inaugurated at the station.
- Facilities provided: The facility can accommodate 55 four-wheelers and 174 two-wheelers. The entry and exit and payment of 4-wheelers can be done through the FASTag.
- The parking fee will be deducted through FASTag, which will reduce the time for entry and payment. Only the vehicles with FASTag will be allowed to park in this facility.
- The entry for 2-wheelers can be done only by swiping the DMRC smart card. The smart card swipe is used only for registering the time of entry and exit and fare calculation and no money will be deducted from the card.
- The parking fee can be paid via UPI apps by scanning the QR Code.

N VENUDHAR REDDY DG OF ALL INDIA RADIO
- N Venudhar Reddy, an Indian Information Service, IIS Officer of 1988 batch took charge as Director General of All India Radio.
- Currently Working as Principal DG of News Services Division, All India Radio, he was given additional charge of AIR, upon the approval of the Appointments Committee of the cabinet.
- All India Radio, officially known since 1957 as Akashvani.
- Reddy brings with him vast experience in media planning and management, administration and newsgathering. He has also served in various capacities earlier with All India Radio News and Doordarshan News.

RETAIL & WHOLESALE TRADE IN MSME SECTOR
- Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has decided to include Retail and Wholesale trade as MSMEs but only for the limited purpose of Priority Sector Lending.
- This means that these segments of businesses can now take loans under the Priority Sector Lending arrangement under the MSME category.
- According to the Retailers Association of India (RAI), this will give retail micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) the support they need to survive, revive and thrive.
- These Retail and Wholesale traders can now register on Udyam Registration Portal. It is a portal by the Government of India for the registration of MSMEs.
- The registration will be allowed under three categories:
- Wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
- Wholesale trade except for motor vehicles and motorcycles.
- Retail trade except for motor vehicles and motorcycles.
