CLAT -2015 Analysis CLAT -2015 Analysis[/caption] CLAT 2015 Exam Analysis After a lot of hype and hoopla created about CLAT going online, the exam was conducted on 10th May without much technical glitches. The questions that were asked saw a tectonic shift in the pattern. CLAT 2015 was nothing but (CLAT = CAT+L), where most of the questions in English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning section were in verbatim with CAT 2003. Legal Aptitude turned out to be a nightmare for the students. In all, this year the question paper was completely out of the box which left even well prepared students fumbling with the questions. Total Questions: 200 Total Marks: 200 Total Duration: 120 minutes Negative Marking: 0.25 Section 1: English No. of Questions: 40 This section comprised of 1 easy passage with 10 doable questions. 5-6 questions on Antonyms and Synonyms. 3-4 questions on Idioms and Phrases. 6- 7 questions on Fill in the Blanks in a cloze test format and few questions on grammatical error. There was an additional set of questions were the best conclusion for the given passages was asked. Surprisingly there were no questions from Para Jumble and Foreign words. 7 Questions from Analogy were asked in this section. This section overall ranged from easy to moderate and an attempt of 29-33 questions can be considered a good attempt. 25+ score would be a good score for this section. Section 2: Reasoning No. of Questions: 40 This section was a mixed bag with questions being asked from all the sections except Critical Reasoning. 10 questions were asked on Puzzles. 5 questions were asked from Blood Relation. One question was asked from Calendar and Direction sense. 8 questions were asked from Syllogism which was quite doable on one statement and two conclusion pattern. This section overall ranged from moderate to tuff and an attempt of 22-25 questions can be considered a good attempt. 20+ score would be a good score for this section. Section 3: Legal Aptitude No. of Questions: 50 This section was a nightmare in CLAT. Legal Knowledge dominated this section with 30-35 questions. Legal Knowledge asked questions related to Contracts and Constitutional Laws. Questions on Legal Aptitude covered areas like Contracts (Promise, Acceptance etc.) followed by Criminal Law (Theft, Cheating, etc.) and Torts (Negligence). This was the toughest section so far and an attempt of 30-35 would be considered a good attempt. 25+ score will be a good score for this section. Section 4: General Knowledge No. of Questions: 50 This Section was dominated by Current Affairs were questions came from the month of February, March and April. In Static G.K. Modern history found its fare share of questions. In total there were 45 questions from Current Affairs and 5 questions were from Static G.K. The level of difficulty of this section was easy. G.K. would not have taken more than 12-14 minutes. 35+ would be considered a good score in this section. Section 5: Quantitative Aptitude No. of Questions: 20 This section was a section full of surprises with Data Interpretation of CAT level finding its place in the question paper The other topics ranged from Profit and Loss, Percentage, Speed and Distance, etc. 7 questions from Data Interpretation were found in this section in a tabular format. The section ranged from moderate to difficult questions and 10-12 questions could have been attempted. A score in the range of 7+ can be considered a good score in this section.

Section No of Question Good score
English 40 25+
Reasoning 40 20-25
Legal Aptitude 50 25-30
Quantitative Aptitude 20 7-10
General Knowledge 50 35+
Total 200 112-125

Note: A good score should range from 112-125 and can easily get a student one of the top 10 NLUs. A student can get at least 1 NLU with a score of 85-90 by the second round of counselling. *Disclaimer: The Exam analysis is done by our experts, based on feedback by students of CLAT Gurukul who took the exam this year.
